Rise Above It Kites
As seen in “Taking a Stand” Season 2, Episode 6
Supplies
Newspaper
Glue
Tape or stapler
Paint, markers, or crayons
Container for water and paper towels, if using paint
Scraps of fabric, ribbons, tissue paper etc...
Steps
Overlap two sheets of newspaper. Fold one half toward the middle. Then fold each corner toward the center to create a diamond shape.
Roll the corners toward the fold line, flatten, then glue down.
Take two more sheets of newspaper. Roll each of these into tight tubes and flatten. Then glue these flattened pieces in the center in a “t” shape to support the kite.
On this same side of the kite, write all the things about you that are wonderful: “I’m a good friend, I’m smart, I’m kind, I love to read, I share” etc....
Now, flip the kite over. Paint or color the front of the kite with a message, picture, or scene that reminds you to rise about unkindness and putdowns.
When your paint is dry, use scraps of ribbon and fabric to make a beautiful tail.
